What it is
The business shirt is the workhorse of the professional wardrobe. It is worn more often than any other garment, laundered more often, and seen by more people in more contexts than a suit jacket or tie.
Who it is for
Men who wear a shirt most days and want the collar, sleeve and body to fit; also grooms and anyone dressing for an occasion.
Cloth and options
Shirting from Thomas Mason, Alumo, Söktaş and D&J Anderson: poplin, twill, Oxford, end-on-end, voile and fine stripes, with the collar, cuff and placket drafted to you.
Sizes
Any size. There is no size chart: the pattern is drafted from your own measurements, so tall, short, broad and asymmetric builds are cut as they are.
Lead time and fittings
Lead time. Three to four weeks for a first order including a fitting; two weeks for repeats on a proven pattern.
Fittings. One fitting on a first order; repeats can be made without a fitting once the pattern is proven.
Care
Machine wash cool, hang to dry, press while slightly damp. Collars and cuffs can be replaced by us when they wear.
Price tier
We do not publish a price list; the cloth decides most of the number. What moves it is the cloth almost entirely; collar, cuff and monogram details add a little.
- Entry. Fine Indian cotton or Söktaş Giza shirting.
- Mid. Thomas Mason Gold or Alumo two-fold cotton.
- Top. Sea Island cotton, Thomas Mason Royal or the finest Alumo weaves.

By appointment at the Adyar atelier. Book on WhatsApp (+91 98414 31402), by phone, or through the website; walk-ins are welcome when we are not with another client. Measurements are taken in person; outstation and NRI clients have fittings planned around their trips to Chennai.
