I was back in Chennai a few weeks ago and needed a shirt stitched with the cloth my parents had purchased in Kunoor. Needless to say, the shirt turned out to be a stunner and I received several compliments regarding the shirt. As it was a business trip for me, I had taken a custom made Italian sports jacket for my meetings. I requested the team to replicate the jacket to the most possible effect, and they came through. They not only had two fittings, they also helped me select the cloth, inner linings (for both the back plate and the arms), and the result was pretty amazing. They also threw in some really killer silk pocket squares. I recommend this place to anyone that needs some good custom made suits/separates. Chennai boasts of several good tailoring houses, but I've had my share of disappointments. However, you will NOT be disappointed at The Black Lapel. Tell them what you are looking for, and they will come through. I did not take my phone with me, hence no pictures - sorry!

Hi i got 9 Shirts and a trouser stitched from them recently and i am very much satisfied with the fit. The owner Mrs Kanchan isvery friendly, they made me do 2 to 3 trials just to make sure i am satisfied with the fitting and they made sure they did it. The staffs were also very friendly and patient. I had also purchased fabrics from them for all the shirts and trousers, their fabrics are mostly imported with amazing quality. I would give them a 5 STAR and would surely recommend this place to my friends . For those who want a rich look outfit, with an amazing fabric and a perfect customised design and fit do visit them in Adyar.

Really nice people and good stitching. Got a suit stitched from them, a little expensive than basic rates but you get what you pay for..no disappointment whatsoever. I would love to get stitched from them again and recommend it intensely.
